To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Data Privacy Counsel in the Legal Department to join us in our Global Commercial HQ based in London.

Summary:

Join the Lotus Legal & Compliance team as a Data Privacy Counsel and support our global data privacy governance framework. This is a junior role which offers broad exposure to data privacy functions across the UK, Europe, and US, allowing you to quickly build your expertise. You’ll play a key role in developing governance, reviewing policies, and expanding privacy processes, while helping shape data privacy strategies and ensuring compliance in a dynamic regulatory environment.

What you'll do:

• Collaborate closely with the Head of Legal and Senior Compliance Counsel to build awareness of Lotus' data privacy governance framework.
• Provide day-to-day legal advice, training, and awareness to all business areas on data privacy requirements.
• Lead privacy reviews for internal and external facing products and projects, ensuring the integration of data privacy principles in all initiatives.
• Implement the Regional Legal & Compliance strategy across the UK, Europe, and US regions, achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Develop, review and execute the global data privacy compliance program, including education, training, monitoring, and enforcement initiatives.
• Draft, review, and implement data privacy policies and procedures, focusing on risk mitigation strategies.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and provide guidance on compliance adjustments.
• Ensure high standards of privacy compliance across the relevant regions, coordinating responses to internal and external regulatory inquiries, audits, complaints, and queries.
• Coordinate and formulate responses to internal and external regulatory enquiries, audits, complaints, and queries.
• Collaborate with local teams, subsidiaries, and external counsel to ensure global compliance.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

• Previous experience in a global data privacy function, with specific expertise in UK and EU data privacy law.
• Proven experience in structuring and implementing data privacy compliance programs.
• Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data privacy contracts.
• In-depth knowledge of privacy trends and the ability to translate these into actionable requirements for the business.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Collaborative team player with a strong sense of ownership.
• Experience working in an international environment.

Desirable:

• In-house legal experience within a corporate group.
• Previous experience in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
• CIPP/E, CIPP/CN, CIPP/M certifications are a plus.

Additional Information:

• This role will be working from our London Global Commercial HQ. This role will be Hybrid working, however there will be an expectancy to work a minimum of 3 days per week in the London office - EC1V
• Candidates must be eligible to work in London without VISA sponsorship
